6/12/2023 0 Comments The unhoneymooners reddit![]() ![]() The tension between them ratchets up when they must pretend to be a couple in public: Olive runs into her future boss and tells him she is on her honeymoon, begging Ethan to attend dinner with her. Olive and Ethan arrive at the resort and discover there is only one bed. Olive and Ethan reluctantly agree, hoping to avoid one another the entire time. ![]() They are the only members of the wedding who are spared from a food borne illness, and Ami urges them to take her nonrefundable honeymoon trip. Olive and Ethan trade barbs during the wedding, especially about her bright green dress, but are soon focused on other matters. Olive is not especially fond of her brother-in-law, Dane, and she dreads encountering Ethan, who she considers judgmental, especially of her body and behavior. Ami is an optimist noted for her ability to win contests and compete for prizes, but Olive sees herself as a pessimist with perpetual bad luck ever since a childhood mishap with an arcade game resulted in a local media incident. ![]() During the festivities, Olive is forced to spend time with the groom’s brother, Ethan Thomas. The work centers around the romantic life and misadventures of Olive Torres as she prepares for the wedding of her identical twin sister Ami. ![]() ![]() ![]() Christopher asks her about Mrs Shears and asks, since Mr Shears left his wife, if she thought he had something to do with the murder. Not understanding the logic behind his father’s aggression or his insistence that he stop, Christopher continues his search and talks to one of his neighbors, Mrs Alexander. His father is furious when he finds out what Christopher is doing, and forbids him from continuing his ‘detecting’. Taking his inspiration from the Sherlock Holmes stories, Christopher knocks on the doors of various neighbors to try to find out what happened to Wellington. Inspired by this, he decides to write a detective story, the very one we are reading: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. ![]() As a school assignment, Christopher’s class is told to write a story. The strange death of Wellington prompts Christopher to search for his killer. The police arrive and Christopher is taken to the station and, shortly after, his father arrives to testify for Christopher and take him home. ![]() She thinks Christopher has killed the dog. He goes over to hug the dog and soon the neighbor, Mrs Shears, emerges from her house, screaming. Christopher Boon, a mathematically gifted boy of fifteen with Asperger's syndrome, sees a dog lying on the grass in front of his neighbor’s house with a fork sticking out of it. ![]() 6/11/2023 0 Comments Electric Love by Shannon O'Connor![]() ![]() ![]() We see in the flashbacks that Eden treated Alex kinda rubbishly, and she really deserved better, but in the present day timeline, Eden goes out of her way to reconnect with Alex again. I did, however, have a few wee issues with the book, mostly to do with Alex and Eden's current dynamic. At first it was a bit jarring because we changed timeline after every chapter or so, but I quickly got used to it and I was really glad for the wee snippets we got to see of Alex's past! Shannon O'Connor's writing style is also super engaging and I devoured this book in a matter of hours! It's definitely the kind of sapphic romance that I would class as a 'comfort read'! Electric Love is a fun, light-hearted debut novel with vibrant characters and a writing style that will suck you in from the get go! I was so excited when the author reached out to me to ask if I wanted to read her book because I'm a huge sucker for second chance romances and books set in small towns where everyone knows everyone, plus this book features an openly bisexual main character with a young child who co-parents him with her best friend, which is something I would just love to see more of in romance novels in general! The book jumps back and forward in time quite a bit so you see Alex's current life, raising her child as a single mum while working in a bookshop, as well as her past relationship with Eden. ![]() 6/11/2023 0 Comments The pendulum by julie lindahl![]() ![]() He eventually fled to South America to evade a new wave of war-crimes trials. During World War II, he was responsible for enslavement and torture and was complicit in the murder of the local population on the large estates he oversaw in occupied Poland. In a remarkable six-year journey through Germany, Poland, Paraguay, and Brazil, Julie uncovers, among many other discoveries, that her grandfather had been a fanatic member of the SS since 1934. Out of the unbearable heart of the story-the unclaimed guilt that devours a family through the generations-emerges an unflinching will to learn the truth. This gripping memoir traces Brazilian-born American Julie Lindahl's journey to uncover her grandparents' roles in the Third Reich as she is driven to understand how and why they became members of Hitler's elite, the SS. ![]() ![]() We propose ten categories derived from three groups of abstraction as a tool for research on educational, technical, and social impacts of 5G technology-or the relationship between 5G and education as a complex system.Ībstract = "This position paper uses an ecological approach to examine how the interface between digital technology and education might be taken up as a complex system with interconnected facets that hold a range of implications. These two examples of are taken from conceptions of “complexity” and are key when illustrating contemporary developments in digital education. We use themes such as knowledge ecology and law of entropy to analyse how ecology is being discussed in extant literature and as a conceptual guide for thinking about how to develop an ecological framework for critical analysis of digital education. We understand the concept of ecology as the science of relations between living and non-living organisms and the environment, and we apply this model to identify the interactions between entities that exist in the hybrid space that intersects human social systems and technical systems. ![]() ![]() This position paper uses an ecological approach to examine how the interface between digital technology and education might be taken up as a complex system with interconnected facets that hold a range of implications. ![]() 6/11/2023 0 Comments Cinder series in order![]() ![]() While a slightly predictable plot is anticipated with this book as it is a retelling of a childhood classic the portions of the book that do have to do with the plot of Cinderella really take a back seat in the book. While the first 100 pages or so were good, the rest of the book jumps into a spiral of very predictable plot twists and a confusing jumble of alien powers that I still cannot completely understand. Trapped between fulfilling the desires of an evil and dangerous queen and a dangerous temptation, Cinder must find a way to protect Earth’s future. ![]() ![]() Cinder, who is constantly at odds with her stepmother, who believes she is useless and blames her for step-sister’s sudden illness, becomes tangled in the life of Prince Kai. The first in a quartet of science fiction fairytale retellings, Cinder follows a very skilled mechanic from New Bejing who also happens to be a cyborg named Cinder. Cinder by Marissa Meyer is a science fiction retelling of the classic story of Cinderella. ![]() 6/10/2023 0 Comments Loveless novel![]() ![]() This wise, warm and witty story of identity and self-acceptance sees Alice Oseman on towering form as Georgia and her friends discover that true love isn’t limited to romance.
